Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
Cognitive psychology is a field that attempts to elucidate the information process in the brain. The purpose is to obtain knowledge about the structure and function of things called "human mind" from the process. In this lecture, we will learn the work of "human mind" as a cognitive system which is one of information processes.

[Learning Objectives]
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
1. Students can explain the cognitive characteristics and mechanisms involved in memory and learning.
2. Students can explain in a way that can be applied in the classroom and in daily life.
3. Students can explain in one's own words what cognition is and how cognitive behavior is evoked.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Students are expected to spend 4 hours reviewing the material in this class. As a review, students are required to write a summary of the contents of each class on a sheet of A4 paper.

[Grading Criteria /Policy]
The overall grade of the class is determined based on the following.
In-class contribution 55%, End-of-term report 45%.
