Outline (in English)

Course outline:
Reliability engineering is one of the required methodologies to produce high-quality products (including software products) and services. This lecture introduces its basic concepts, mathematical formulations, and some applications to the students. Before joining this class, the students are required fundamental knowledge upon statistics and probability theory.

Learning objectives:
Students will acquire an understanding of:
1) the mathematical reliability theory,
2) statistical methods for quantitative reliability assessment, and
3) structure functions and its useful properties.

Learning activities outside of the class room:
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Grading criteria/Policy:
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
In-class exercise : 50%, Term-end examination (or report) : 50%.
