Outline (in English)
This class is designed for undergraduate juniors newly assigned to Management Science Laboratory. Three major research topics relate to the lab will be focused on. They include:
1. Mathematical programming
2. Geographical information systems
3. Relational database.
Basic skill and knowledge associated with these shall be acquired.
[Learning objectives]
Upon completion, students should
1. have decided a research theme to address from the next semester.
2. acquire basic skill and associated knowledge to proceed research.
3. have basic skills for documentation.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
1. Students should spend four hours for preparation and review.
2. Several topics require installation of specific software along with confirmation.
[Grading criteria]
The final evaluation will be based on:
1. contribution to the class (40%)
2. term report (60%)

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
経営数理工学研究室に配属された学生を対象に，研究室の主要研究分野を三つ取り上げ，各分野の研究遂行にあたって必要な基礎的な知識や技術を身につける．
到達目標Goal
１．次学期以降に取り組む研究テーマが決まっている．
２．研究遂行に必要な基礎技術と関連知識が身についている．
３．レポートの書き方の基本的作法が身についている．

経営数理工学研究室の研究テーマと内容の紹介
2[対面/face to face]：数理計画（１）
最適化問題を解く汎用ソルバーの使用方法を学ぶ
3, 4, 5[対面/face to face]：数理計画（２）
汎用ソルバーを用いて最適化問題や制約充足問題を解く
6, 7[対面/face to face]：地理情報システム（１）
地理情報システムに関する基礎的項目を学び，数値標高データなどのラスタデータを用いた解析を行う
8, 9[対面/face to face]：地理情報システム（２）
道路ネットワークデータを用いて最短経路問題を解くプログラムを作成する
10, 11[対面/face to face]：地理情報システム（３）
最短経路問題をベースに，道路の混雑度をシミュレートするプログラムを作成する
12, 13[対面/face to face]：リレーショナルデータベースと自然言語処理
MySQLを用い，リレーショナル・データベースの基礎を学び，MeCabを用いた形態素解析を行う

実習・研究内容の成果発表を行う

・本授業の準備・学習時間は，各4時間を標準とする．
・いくつかのテーマでは，ソフトウェアのインストールや動作確認などの事前準備がある．

主として平常点（40%）および期末レポート（60%）で評価する．
