Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The purpose of this course is to learn portfolio optimization problems in finance. Key words are the following: return, risk, utility, Markowitz mean-variance method (optimal portfolio theory), CAPM, Sharpe ratio, binomial model, and dynamic programming.
【Learning Objectives】
The goals of this course are to understand the idea of portfolio optimization and its related mathematics.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to read the relevant chapter(s) from references before each class meeting.
Students will be expected to review the lecture note and solve problems in references after each class meeting.
Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process Mid-term report (30%), term-end examination (50%), and in-class assignment (20%). If number of absence is more than or equal to 4, your grade is automatically D.
