Outline (in English)

Course outline:
Regardless of the type of products (software/hardware), the concept of quality control plays an essential role in production systems. This course lectures several fundamental methodologies for total quality management based on statistics and data analysis. Students are expected to grasp the theory and practical data analysis techniques.

Learning objectives:
Students will acquire an understanding of:
1) the key concept of TQM,
2) how to use several statistical methods for TQM, and
3) the importance of scientific management for organizations.

Learning activities outside of the class room:
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Grading criteria/Policy:
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
In-class exercise : 50%, Term-end examination (or report) : 50%.
