Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
This course introduces essential technologies constituting information systems in terms of hardware, software, and computer networks. For understanding the mechanism of computers, we will learn about Boolean algebra basics and its implementation using digital circuits. Then as the mainstream paradigm of building computer software, object oriented programming will be studied using multiple programming languages, such as C++ and JavaScript. This course also includes topics about technologies used in the Internet.
(Learning Objectives)
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
-Understanding how the control and calculation functions work in computers in terms of digital logic
-Learning the fundamental knowledge of software engineering
-Understanding how computers communicate via the Internet
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. Before some of class meetings, e.g., the 4th, 5th, and 9th meetings, students will be expected to have completed the required preparation for the meetings, such as checking home Internet settings in detail, group work about object oriented design, etc.
(Grading Criteria/Policies)
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process: Mid-term report (40%), term-end examination (50%), and in-class contribution (10%).
