Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The purpose of this course is to learn introduction of stochastic process, specially Poisson process, random walk and Markov chain. They are used in many fields in engineering, finance, reliability theory, physics, biology, economics and so on.
【Learning Objectives】
The goals of this course are to understand applications, fundamental properties and calculations of these stochastic processes.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to read the relevant chapter(s) from references before each class meeting.
Students will be expected to review the lecture note and solve problems in references after each class meeting.
Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process Mid-term report (30%), term-end examination (50%), and in-class assignment (20%). If number of absence is more than or equal to 4, your grade is automatically D.
