Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
This class aims to learn the most fundamental theory and method of mathematical statistics. In particular, the primary purpose is to cultivate statistical thinking skills for solving problems based on actual observed data. For that purpose, it lectures mainly on statistical inference, verification, and linear model.

(Learning objectives)
This course aims to understand the purpose of statistics and the concepts of population and sample, understand the properties of sample distributions, understand the likelihood principle, and understand hypothesis testing based on distributions related to the normal distribution.

(Learning activities outside of the classroom)
After each class meeting, students will be expected to have understood the content, submitted an attendance sheet and completed the required assignments.

(Grading criteria /policies)
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following; the basis of exercises: 20% and examinations: 80%. Active participation in the lectures will also be evaluated.
