Outline (in English)

This course introduces methods to characterize random signals. A set of multi-dimensional joint probability distribution/density functions are introduced for the complete characterization of random signals. Second and higher-order moments and related statistics such as autocorrelation function are introduced for the practical signal analysis. Finally, the regression and classification methods are introduced. The goals of this course are to understand the background foundation for digital signal processing.

Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours understanding the course content.

The final grade will be calculated according to the following process reports (40%), final examination (60%), and in-class contribution.
