Outline (in English)

- Course Outline
Functional materials play important roles in modern society, using their unique electronic, magnetic, optic, thermal or chemical natures. This course introduces the principles and applications of these materials, based on solid physics and industrial processing, to students. Metals, ceramics and polymers are included. The history of technological development is also introduced to learn their social impacts.


- Learning Objectives
The goals of this course are to understand function and application of various industrial materials and significance in modern society. Showing more concretely;
-1. Relationship in micro structure and macro properties
-2. Basic function of processing to create the properties of materials
-3. Source of the idea of social implication and its effects on society


- Learning Activities Outside of Classroom
Students are expected to spend four hours to understand the course content including to have completed the required assignments


- Grading Policy
Grading will be decided based on assignment reports (100%)
