Outline (in English)

【Course outline】 Defect or crack may occur in the structure member and the mechanical part during a manufacturing process or under service. It is difficult to evaluate structural integrity of such situation using mechanical material, fracture mechanics are available to evaluate crack or defect. The objective of this lecture is understanding of elastic fracture mechanics, and exercise some example problems.
【Learning Objectives】 At the end of the course, students are expected to achieve the objectives of the class and to acquire knowledge for fracture mechanics.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】 Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend 2 hours to understand the course content.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】 The total score of 60 or more out of 100 is considered acceptable.
