Outline (in English)

【Outline (in English)】
【Course outline】
In this course, students will understand the governing equations for viscous fluid, which is a real fluid. Students will also learn the difference of fluid motions between laminar flow and turbulent flow and the equations governing each motion, while understanding how to handle problems related to viscous fluid. In addition, students will gain basic knowledge of high-speed air flow, mainly how to handle quasi-one-dimensional flow and its characteristics.
【Learning Objectives】
After completing this course, students should be able to:
- Understand the Navier-Stokes equations describing the motion of viscous fluids.
- Derive and understand the Reynolds equation for turbulent flow fields.
- Understand the conservation laws of compressible flows and thermodynamic fundamentals.
- Understand the basic equations for quasi-one-dimensional compressible flows.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend 4 hours to understand the course content.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Students who achieve a total of 60% or more will pass the course.
