Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
Applied Aviation English class is targeting acquisition of the knowledge and the skills needed to pass ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) English Language Proficiency Test. Students are required to explain both normal and non-normal situations concerning airline operations in English. This class focuses on obtaining required communicative proficiency for ICAO level 4.

【Learning Objectives】
The goal of this class is to obtain required communicative proficiency for ICAO level 4.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are expected to describe picture situations in English in each class. In order for the students to engage fully in class, they need to make preparations by looking up vocabulary ahead of time or practicing describing picture situations on their own or coming up with the possible questions that might be asked during the ICAO English language proficiency test. Recording your voice is a good speaking practice since the students will be able to listen to the way they speak and analyze what is good and what is weak. Is is also good to practice describing what is happening around you in English. If students can become comfortable in speaking English, they will most likely be well-prepared to take the ICAO English language proficiency test. If students spend approximately four hours for the preparation and review for each class, they should be ready to actively participate in class.
