Outline (in English)

This course aims at getting students to gain English competence required of active global citizens who can access and accurately understand information conveyed in English. The other objective of this course is to enhance awareness and perspectives of contemporary global issues through reading and listening to English materials provided in the course.


Before each class meeting, students will be expected to do one or two of the following tasks.
1. carefully read assigned part of the materials.
2. Summarize a short audio-visual material.
3. Do research on relevant topics.

After each class meeting, students will be expected to read or watch materials again and prepare for a review test which will be frequently conducted. You will sometimes be requested to write your own ideas in English based on materials introduced in the course.
Your required study time outside of classroom is at least one hour for each class.


Final grading will be decided based on your preparation for class (20%), contribution to class activities through presenting research and opinions (20%), and review tests(60%).
