Outline (in English)

This lesson is mainly for students who first time to learning Chinese. In the lesson, you’ll use the textbook to learn the second half of Elementary Chinese, while aiming to master the fundamentals of the Chinese language ("speaking" ability, "listening" ability, and "writing" ability). You’ll master Chinese pronunciation and notation firmly and create a foundation that will enable you to enjoy not only kanji, but also the world of sounds.

Attendance is a prerequisite for evaluation. Evaluation will be based on a total of 20% normal points (attendance, performance, and vocal volume) and 80% for the final exam.

One hour of study outside of class time for preparation, review, etc. for this class is standard. In order to cultivate the ability to "speak" and "listen" Chinese, it is important to pronounce and listen to Chinese as much as possible. Students are encouraged to repeat the pronunciation of new words and the main text of each section of the textbook that they have learned in class and to practice listening by using the CDs provided in the textbook appendix.
