Outline (in English)

German course for the intermediate levels (nearly A1. completed), exclusively for Participants of SA-Program in Germany (Leuphana Universtät-Lüneburg) in the next semester held by the faculty of Intercultural Communication/Hosei University. This course introduces elementary Grammar and vocabulary with reading Text in German. The aim of this course is to get basic knowledge of the German language and German speaking world, especially ability of reading and composition for general topics to talk about.
【Learning Objectives】
・Improving the ability to read German texts in a grammatical and analytical way.
・The development of vocabulary on abstract topics and the ability to make appropriate comments on topics in German.
・The ability to understand the different social systems and cultural practices of different regions in relation to the characteristics of the language.
The above will give you the skills and preparation you need to adapt to life in a foreign country.
【Learning Activities outside of classroom】
・The standard preparation and revision time for this class is one hour in total.
・For each lesson, students will be given an assignment to prepare and review.
・All sentences and texts in German must be read aloud.
・Students are encouraged to use the German language outside of class.
【Grading Criteria/Policy】
The overall assessment will be based on a combination of 35% active participation in class (including the results of external examinations), 30% assignments and 35% final examinations.
