Outline (in English)

(Outline)
This class is for undergraduate students who study Japanese as second language. The aim of this course is to provide students with the sufficient skills for understanding short lectures and presentations given in Japanese.

(Learning Objectives)
By the end of this course, students should be able to do the followings:
1. to understand short lectures and presentations in Japanese.
2. to take notes and analyze the structure of the discourse.
3. to summarize the contents of short lectures and presentations.
4. to discuss the given topics with the knowledge they acquired through their micro-research or learned from their own background culture.

(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Your study time is at least 1 hour for each class meeting.

(Grading Criteria/Policies)
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
Term-end examination 30%
Assignments 30%
Quizzes 20%
in class contribution 20%

＊Students who have missed more than 3 class meetings will not be allowed to take the term-end exam, nor acquire credit.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives

学生が大学の講義や口頭発表を理解するために必要な日本語の聴解能力を養成する。学生は、ある程度の長さのスクリプトの聴解／読解でポイントをつかみ、メモを作成する。教材に沿った演習を通して、情報の中で重要な部分を聞き取る訓練を行った後、要約文を書く。さらに、時に応じてその話題に関わる自国の状況を含め、口頭／文章で表現する機会を持つ。

１．学生は、大学の講義や発表の概要をつかめるようになる。
２．学生は、ノートをとれるようになる。
３．学生は、聞いたり読んだりした内容の要約ができるようになる。
４．学生は、話題に関わる自国の状況を説明したり、意見が表現できるようになる。

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)（学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. ）

授業はおおよそ以下の手順で進める：

1.ＣＤを聴き、大意をつかみながらメモを作成。
2.メモを元に、内容に関するＱ＆Ａ、穴埋め問題に解答。その後正答の確認と解説
3.要約、自分自身の意見文を作成する。
4.構成を確認。教科書内の構成に関する穴埋め問題を自力で回答した後、答え合わせをして、文章全体の構成を確認する。
5.話題について話し合う（その際、話題に関わる自国の状況について調べ、まとめることもある。）

＊3～5のプロセスについては、課によって順序・内容が変わることがある。
＊各回の課題へのフィードバックは、授業中に口頭で行うか、Hoppi/Google Classroomを用いて行う。
＊授業で学習した語彙、表現については、翌週に小テストを行う。
