Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
This course introduces various international cultural and social issues. The course will encourage students to consider their own culture and society within an international context, and obtain new perspectives about current issues. In the Spring Semester, students are encouraged to become familiar with reading English newspaper articles. Students will review and discuss an overview of English-language media via authentic materials. Through the course, students will develop their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

(Learning Objectives)
Students will be able to:
- read English newspaper articles and understand the main points
- summarize the outlines of newspaper articles
- logically express their opinion about an issue in English


(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students are expected to make a short note on a passage for the next class. The preparation and review for the class will take about 1-2 hours every week. Detailed information will be given during the first lesson.

(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Grading will be decided based on:
- Quizzes, weekly assignments, participation (30%)
- Final Exam (70%)
