Outline (in English)

 This class is face-to-face lessons.
Global Pathways is a comprehensive textbook for learning about not only the new era of business world but also the latest social issues. With 350 words of English text, there are plenty of exercises for vocabulary, comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking. This textbook carefully selected interesting themes such as "Gigwork", "Subscribing", and "e Sports" to understand the new state of society. The text is approximately 350 words long, and includes a variety of exercises in vocabulary, comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking, so that students can learn grammar consciously and spontaneously.
This course deals with the A, B, C. It also enhances the development of students' skill in D.

Students will learn vocabulary and phrases relevant to contemporary society through studying Global Pathways text, gain an understanding of issues facing English-speaking cultures and international societies, and improve their English language skills and abilities for living and working abroad.

This class is intended to be face-to-face lessons. The class format may be unavoidably changed due to the spread of corona infection, details of which will be posted on the learning support system.
Since this is an exercise-type class, I would like you to speak up at least once per class.
Ideally, we would like to complete this text, which is one theme per unit, in two classes. First we will listen to the CD video, paying attention to important words and phrases, then we will read and understand the Reading English text, and then we will do the exercises. At the end of the semester, we will choose an informative film to critique and exchange ideas.
In-text audio and video will be available through Seibido's website access.
The main method of feedback will be in-class critiques.

Preparation for each class is necessary. You will need to look up the vocabulary carefully before coming to class. You may use any dictionary you like. Read the English sentences in the reading section. After the reading of each chapter, you are expected to do the homework: practice exercises in each unit. The standard preparation and review time for this class is one hour combined.

Attendance of at least 2/3 of the class is required. Evaluation will be based on the contribution to the class (50%) and a written test (50%). 60 points or more is a passing grade.
In principle, students who are absent more than 4 times per semester will not be allowed to earn credits.
The above is the case for face-to-face classes, and appropriate changes will be made when online classes are switched to face-to-face classes.
