Outline (in English)

(1) Course outline
This is an introductory course in psychology, where students will learn how different psychological theories conceptualized human beings, comparing with other theories. This autumn term course will mainly focus on psychological theories of behaviorist and humanistic psychologies. Moreover, one of the most important theories of positive psychology, namely flow theory, will be introduced and discussed how we can attain psychological well-being.
(2) Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students are expected to understand (a) how the theories of behaviorist psychology, gestalt psychology, humanistic psychology, and positive psychology conceptualized human beings and their development, and (b) how students’ daily experiences can be explained by the psychological theories introduced in this course.
(3) Learning activities outside of classroom
Students will be expected to spend 4 hours to understand the course content (2 hours each for before/after class meeting). Besides, students will be expected to spend their daily lives having course topics in the back of their mind.
(4) Grading Criteria/Policy
Final grade will be decided based on the term-end examination (100%).
