Outline (in English)

Elements of Modern Philosophical Logic of Knowledge, Propositional Logic and Predicate Logic:

At first we learn the logical thoughts of modern European philosophers, beginning with F. Bacon and R. Descartes: in what way the knowledge of modern sciences is logically formed. In the second place we learn the elementary logic of our times, from the Boolean propositional logic down to the predicate logic. We use some means of expression like logical algebra, truth-chart and Venn diagram and apprehend the logic clearly. Therefor we can learn the essential philosophical logic of modern sciences and the elements of the propositional logic.

Students will learn the rudiments of philosophical logic of modern science, modern propositional logic, and predicate logic.
(1) To be able to think about the nature of modern science through philosophical logic.
(2) To be able to think about the meaning of logical truth through propositional logic.
(3) To be able to think about the relations between individualities through predicate logic.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
The preparation (2 hours): To understand what we learn in our class next time.
The brush-up (2 hours): (1) To try mini-examination on "Hoppii". (2) To review the lesson.

[Grading Criteria / Policy]
The grades are given in terms of the philosophical logic of the modern science, the propositional logic of our time and the predicate logic elementary understood. In this regard the following two aspects are respected. (1) 70%: The score of the mini-examinations, the attendance and the attitudes. (2) 30%: The score of the final examination.
