Outline (in English)

Literary works exploring the theme of transformation, from Ovid's Metamorphoses to Kafka's Metamorphosis until Stevenson's Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, are still attracting a lot of readers.
This class discusses this theme from a comparative point of view, taking several examples from different eras and different languages.

◦ To recapture the meaning of "transformation" from a modern perspective.
◦ To understand the ideological and cultural background of each era, using the motif of "transformation" as a clue.
◦ Improve the ability to understand different cultures.
