平安時代の歌物語である伊勢物語を、主人公とされる在原業平の一生に添って、とくに恋の章段を中心に読んでいく。それを通して和歌と物語という、文学を代表する2つのジャンルについて、考察する。また1000年以上昔の人の心の動きを読み取り、文学の価値、意味について考えていく。
到達目標Goal
和歌という31文字の短い形式のなかに込められた思いを読み取り、その中に納まりきらない情報を伝えたいという思いから成立した歌物語の世界を理解、享受する。
現代の小説中心の文学のあり方との違いやつながりをも視野にいれて考察していきたい。
古文というと縁遠いものと思われがちな古典文学の中にも現代の私たちに相通じる面白みがあることを感じ取れるようになるとともに、文学史的知識を獲得し、日本の文化への興味、教養を高めることを目標とする。

現代語訳付のテキストを使っての講義形式。
現代語訳付なので、高校時代の古文のように現代語訳が到達点ではなく、それを踏まえた読解のための講義となる。
また、人数にもよるが、読解に関してのディスカッション、意見交換などもできたらいいと考えている。
受け身でない、授業参加姿勢を期待する。

百人一首など、現代の生活の中に残留する和歌に目を向ける意識を持ってほしい。奈良時代から平安時代の日本史を、高校の日本史レベルで振り返っておくと、時代背景が理解しやすい。
本授業の準備・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
学期末に、事前に発表した問題テーマについての論述テスト(持ち込み可)を行う。このテストが評価のほぼ100%。
評価のポイントは、設定された問題テーマについて作品の表現の読解をふまえて自分なりに考察し、それが論理的にの論述されているかという点、および、他人に読みやすい文章で表現できているかという点が主となる。
ただし、毎回出席をとり、50%以上の出席をテスト受験資格とする。
学生の意見等からの気づきChanges following student comments
文学作品という関係上、作品のその部分の分量により1コマの時間内に1つのテーマがうまく収まらない場合が多い。時間をまたぐ場合には、できるだけ前回の内容の振り返りをしつつ進めていく。
また、大人数の授業となった場合など、なかなかディスカッションとはいかないかもしれないが、できれば学生の感想・意見を聞くことを講義の中に取り入れていきたい。
