Outline (in English)

<Course outline>
This course aims to offer basic academic skills required for university students.
<Learning objectives>
1) Students are able to gather effectively key knowledge and information from lectures, academic literature and online sources, and organise it in constructive ways.
2) Students are able to present their ideas logically and convincingly in oral and written forms.
3) Students are able to respect diversity of opinions through discussion with fellow students.
<Learning activities outside of classroom>
Students are required to work on various assignments outside of classroom, which include preparation for oral presentation and writing academic essays. Consequently they have to spend at least two hours on preparation for and review of each class respectively.
<Grading policy>
Class participation and assignments: 30% Oral presentation: 30% Final essay: 40%
