Outline (in English)

Course outline: The main objective of this course is to learn the knowledge provided by the finance theory on important issues in the corporate finance area. This year, we will not read a standard introductory textbook on corporate finance, but a specialized book (McKinsey & Company's "Valuation") that explains corporate finance with a focus on the valuation of corporations.

Learning objectives: In this course, students will learn the following five points.
(1) Finance in a nutshell
(2) Are capital markets efficient with respect to information?
(3) Framework of corporate valuation
(4) Earnings forecast
(5) Estimation of the cost of capital

Learning activities outside of classroom: All students are expected to prepare the summary of an assigned part of the textbook. I expect that it will take about four hours to prepare the summary.

Grading criteria/policy: Grading will be based on presentations in class, comments in discussions, and a quiz at the end of the semester. 70% of the grade will be based on class presentations and discussions, and 30% on the quiz.
