Outline (in English)
Students will learn the basic elements of an academic paragraph and how to organise them. Students learn how to make the relation ships between ideas in their paragraphs clearer by using transitions and checking their writing for coherence and unity. Students learn how to use sources effectively to improve their writing. Students learn how to edit and improve their final written work.

The objective of this class is to enable to students to compose texts on familiar academic topics that better meet the expectations of an academic reader.
本授業の目的は、学生が、自身が詳しい学術的な話題に関し、より学術論文読者の期待に応えるような文章を構成できるようになることです。
到達目標Goal
1. Students will be able to organise sentences in paragraphs and paragraphs in an essay.
2. Students will be able to use language to show relationships between ideas in their writing.
3. Students will be able to cite sources and paraphrase, summarise and quote relevant information from sources.
4. Students will be able to draft, revise and edit their writing productively.

Each discrete skill in academic writing is introduced in clear steps with examples, models and practice activities. Students then develop their writing in freer activities. Feedback is given by the teacher to reinforce the skill being introduced and those previously taught.
