Outline (in English)

【Course outline】This course intends to promote students’ analysis of the roles and functions of social welfare system as well as the connotation of “supporting the aged” by understanding the diverse environment and lifestyles of older adults themselves and their families. That involves studying welfare system and measures surrounding the care for the aged, and reviewing prior social work research data. We will also examine the objectives and methods of research themes of each student. Further, students are expected to deepen their knowledge in the acutal implementation of social work services for the aged in the community and its challenges through various field work.
【Learning Objectives】The aim of this exercise is to deepen students' understanding of the roles and support of people who support people with various difficulties and problems in society in their own efforts to solve their problems, based on the knowledge and practical learning acquired in Exercises 1A and 1B. They will also plan their own research design, including their own research themes and objectives.
【Learning activities outside the classroom】In this class, students are expected to collect and organize literature and materials (newspapers, magazines, and the Internet) related to the topics in which they are interested. For review, please re-organize the contents of your presentation after each session. The standard time for preparation and review is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria/Policies】Students will be graded on their attitude toward class participation and the content of their reports (60%), and on the mid-term report assignment (40%).
