Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
This course aims to deepen students' understanding of modern society and social welfare. In particular, we will clarify the characteristics of modern society with the keywords like "human welfare (well-being)" and "welfare policy", understanding the current structure of social welfare (policies, systems, and the ideas and philosophies underlying them), and looking at the future of social welfare.

[Learning Objectives]
1. Studying principles and fundamentals of welfare policy.
2. Understanding welfare policy comprehensively.
By achieving these objectives, you will acquire basic concepts, knowledge, and theories in social welfare.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Read the textbook in advance. After the class, review the contents of the class by checking the questions in the textbook. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

[Grading Criteria /Policy]
(1) Evaluation method: Reaction paper (30%), final exam (70%)
(2) Grading criteria
<Reaction paper>
 Evaluation of the level of understanding of the content of each lecture, and evaluation of the ability to develop one's own views logically and persuasively.
<Final examination>
 Evaluation of the students' understanding of the lecture content.
 The following are the specific grading items for the essay-type questions in final exam.
 -- Is the answer in response to the instructions of each question?
 -- Is the answer based on facts?
 -- Is the answer appropriate as a sentence?
