Outline (in English)

【Course Outline】To develop students' academic English skills which help students' future research and career development, this class basically focuses on academic writing. Students will experience research in English, making a draft, submitting assignments, giving a presentation, getting and giving feedback in English.
【Learning Objectives】Students can understand the basic rules of academic English writing. They can express their opinions and the reasons why they think the topics are important.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】Besides in-class activities, students will be asked to submit several assignments which they need to work on alone. The instructions are given in the class but they need to work outside of classroom as well to complete the assignment. Students will weekly spend 2-3 hours for self-study.
【Grading】Perfomance 60%, Class participation 40%. Class participation is different from attendance points. Students are expected to actively engage to the tasks and play active roles in the class, which will be evaluated as class participation.
