Outline (in English)

(Course outline)Gender Studies is an interdisplinary academic field spannning the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. This field explores critical questions about the meaning of gender in society and examines how notions of gender structure our reality. Gender studies has been influenced by post-modernism, including arguments that gender is not a fixed category, but rather a social construction. Scholars have used these theories to examine how the construction of gender functions in a range of spheres, such as work, the family, social policy, law, education and media. This course will investigate contemporary feminist thought from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. We will focus on key issues in feminist thoery such as gender equality/inequality, the public/private dichotomy, gender segregation, unpaid work and the construction of masculinity among others. This course aims also to think through the ways in which these concerns intersect with issues of race/ethnicity, class, sexuality, and the nation.
(Learning Objectives)The goals of this course are to think of a solution about modern gender issues.
(Leaning activities outside of classroom)Before/after each class meeting ,
students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
(Grading Cruteria/Policy) Your overrall grade in the class will be decided based on the following.Term-end examination:50%、Short reports:10%、in class contribution:40%
