Outline (in English)

(Course outline and learning objectives): In the spring semester, students will deeply understand the current trends and various issues surrounding public libraries by conducting research investigations in groups. In the fall semester, students are required to visit one central public library in the 23 wards of Tokyo, interview librarians with group members, and make presentations together in order to compare and evaluate public libraries and discover current situations, various issues of the public libraries, and the ways of solving the problems.

(Learning activities outside of classroom): During the spring semester, students should allow sufficient time for group discussions on research topics and preparation for research presentations.
In the fall semester, students are expected to actively participate in class and take a leadership role, as group and individual field research and group activities will be the main focus.
