Outline (in English)
[Outline]
The goal of this course is to understand the relationship between the natural environment of the Japanese islands, including topography, hydrology, and climate, and the people who live there. The lecture will cover a wide range of natural fields such as topography, hydrology, and climate, but will also include the interaction between humans and the environment. Students who are interested in human geography are encouraged to attend.
[Work to be done outside of class]
A day trip to the Sagamihara area will be held on a Sunday in May or June (generally after the third class). Participation is free, and attendance will not affect your grade at all.
Students are expected to do some research on the keywords to be presented in class.
Students are expected to come up with quizzes on the contents of the class.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
[Grading criteria]
The final exam (60%), quiz (40%), and normal score (10%) will be added up to 100% to determine the grade. Quizzes are given using the class support system (Hoppii). In this course, students are expected to attend the lectures, so no grades will be given to students whose attendance rate is less than 70%.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
日本列島における地形・水文・気候といった自然環境と，そこで生活する人々との関わりを理解することを目標とする．主に地形・水文・気候といった自然分野について幅広く講義するが，人間と環境との相互作用といった内容も含んでいる．このため，人文地理学に興味がある学生の皆さんにもぜひ出席してもらいたい．

日本列島を構成する自然環境について，基本的な知識を習得できる．

パワーポイントやGoogle Earthなどを用い，ビジュアルな授業を行う．また，理解を深めるために一部地図を用いた作業も行う．

5月か6月の日曜日（目安として第3回授業の終了後）に日帰りの巡検（相模原近辺）を行う．参加は自由であり，出欠は成績に一切影響しない．
授業時に提示するキーワードについて調べてくる．
授業の内容に関するクイズを考える．
本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
期末試験（60%），小テスト（40%），平常点(10%）を100%まで加算して成績を決める．小テストは授業支援システムを用いて行う．講義は出席するのが前提であるため，出席率70%以下の学生に対しては成績をつけない．
