Outline (in English)

Course outline
 In this class, I will cover paintings from the Heian period to the Edo period and explain the basic knowledge. Furthermore, we will look at the styles of each era and capture the history of art as the development of styles. In the fall semester, we will also give a lecture on the dual structure of Japanese and Chinese.
 Students will learn basic knowledge of Japanese art history by learning basic matters such as art techniques, expression methods, and production dates. In addition, students will understand the style of each era and acquire the ability to grasp art history as a development of style. In the fall semester, students will also understand the dual structure of Japanese and Chinese.

Learning Objectives
 Become able to explain the basic knowledge of the works taken up in class.
 Understand the styles of each era and become able to grasp art history as the development of styles.
 Be able to explain the dual structure of Chinese style and Japanese style in Japanese art history.

Learning activities outside of classroom
 The standard preparation and review time is 2 hours each. After the lecture, look at the reference illustrations so that the work and the work name match.

Grading Criteria /Policy
 Written exam 80% at the end of the semester, reaction paper 20%.
