Outline (in English)

Course outline ―In this class, we will read the “Kojidan,” a collection of tales written in early Kamakura period. The aim of the class is for students to become familiar with ancient records, and to be able to read it at a basic level. In addition, through reading comprehension, the course aims to develop students’interest in the politics, society, and culture of the Heian period and enable them to investigate and consider matters with a sense of the issues that arise.
Learning Objectives ―At the end of the course, students are expected to learn the basic technique of handling the historical materials and to get the logical thinking of history.
Learning activities outside of classroom ―We will have review quiz in every class meetings. Students will be expected to prepare for the quizzes.
Grading Criteria /Policy ―Grading will be decided based on quiz(100%) and in-class contribution.
