Outline (in English)

The students are required to read an English thesis dealing the historical development of community networks and the maritime trade activities in the western part of the Indian Ocean.
They are provided the opportunity to speculate historiography,
especially on the historical studies of the immigrant communities or 'slavery/ slave trade' in various areas.
At the end of the course, students are expected to read the English thesis from the perspective of historians, examining its context carefully.
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant paragraphs from the text. Your study time will be about four hours for a class.
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process: Term-end examination(20%) and in-class contribution(80%).
