Outline (in English)

The aim of this course is to help students deepen the discussion through reporting articles of their own choice on Japanese archaeology.
The new students will be able to read and understand archaeological papers, explain their findings to others, and participate in discussions. They will also be able to understand the scope of archaeology and its research methods.
Advanced students will be able to explain technical papers on archaeology, examine them based on their own points of view and awareness of the issues, and lead discussions. In addition, students will be able to acquire themes and practical methods for writing graduation theses, and to give presentations on their research concepts.
The standard preparation and review time by students is 2 hours each.
The final grade will be calculated based on the mid-term report and final report (30%), and the presentation and questions (70%).
