Outline (in English)
In this class, we will analyze the work of second-language writers in English and explore the relationship between second-language acquisition and the representation of self. Students will also write their own poems in English and discuss them in a workshop format.

第二言語で創作する英語圏作家を読み、第二言語と自己の関係性について考える。母国語の「私」と非母国語の「私」はどう違うのか。非母国語でないと表現できないものとは何か。授業では学生も実際に英語で創作し、お互いの作品を批評する。

Students will develop the ability to read texts closely, with an eye to their cross-cultural contexts.

The class revolves around students' presentations and discussions. There will be some lectures, but most of the class time will be devoted to students' active participation. Students will receive feedback on their work in class, via Hoppii, and during office hours. The format of this class in a given week could change, depending on the Covid situation.
