Outline (in English)

Course outline
  For writing a graduation thesis, it is needed that in addition to specialized knowledge you learned, thinking ability, writing ability, research ability, criticism ability, and judgment ability.

Learning Objectives
  The Department of Geography allows students who have reached the following standards to receive a "Bachelor's Degree (Literature)".
(1) Acquire basic knowledge about the natural environment, humanities and social environment of the earth's surface, which is the stage of human life, understand the basic mechanism of geographical events, and acquire a wide range of education. It is attached.
(2) To be able to acquire geographical thinking ability and perspectives, and to consider using research methods based on them.
(3) With the knowledge of geography, we are interested in social issues, listen to the voices of others, and have the ability to accurately express our thoughts through oral and written expressions, and the needs of the local community. Acquire the ability to respond and solve various problems.
  
Learning activities outside of classroom
   The graduation thesis requires originality. It is necessary to read a lot of research papers in order to take into account the research results so far. In addition, depending on the subject, regional surveys and experiments / observations are also required. However, the time to write a graduation thesis is limited. Therefore, it is also necessary to formulate a research plan in advance so that it can be carried out efficiently. The standard preparation and review time for each seminar is 4 hours each.
  
Grading Criteria /Policy
  In the Department of Geography, the evaluation of a graduation thesis is comprehensively decided by paying attention to the following items.
(1) Validity of research theme setting, (2) Validity of selection of research target area, (3) Positioning in past research, (4) Validity of research method and analysis / analysis procedure, (5) Appropriate amount, (6) Validity of paper structure, (7) Development of thesis, (8) Appropriate sentence expression, (9)Appropriate citation of documents, (10)Format and accuracy of figures and tables, (11)Validity of analysis / analysis and consideration and result derivation, (12)Originality of the entire paper.
Grades will be judged based on the following criteria, taking into consideration the content of the graduation thesis and the content of the interview examination.
・ S: When the requirements of the evaluation items are fully satisfied and the paper is recognized as a particularly excellent paper.
・ A +, A, A-: When the requirements of the evaluation items are met and the paper is recognized as excellent.
・ B +, B, B-: When it is recognized that most of the requirements of the evaluation items are satisfied.
・ C +, C, C-: When the requirements for evaluation items are met to some extent and efforts to write a dissertation are recognized.
・ D: When it is evaluated that it is not suitable for graduation because it does not meet the requirements of the evaluation items in many respects.
・ E: Not submitted
