Outline (in English)

This class focuses on how technology issues are dealt with in fiction, including literary works.

Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" is sometimes referred to as the world's first science fiction novel, but it is also an excellent parody of Gothic novels. The story of an android artificially created by human intelligence hostile to the Creator will be repeated in various fictions thereafter.

We will unravel the relationship between literature and technology with reference to various parables, dystopian novels, science fiction novels, Heidegger's technical theory, and Haraway's cyborg feminism.

Classes consist of lectures by faculty members, group work by participating students, and examination of student reports.

In order to earn credits, quotas such as a mini-report each time, four main reports, and the submission of final assignments are imposed. It's not an easy class. We strongly hope for the participation of students who are willing to study.

It is a condition of participation that the video function can be turned "on" when conducting remotely.
