Outline (in English)

In this lecture, following Microeconomics A, students will acquire the basic knowledge needed to analyze economic problems from the perspective of microeconomics. First, we will apply the theory of strategic-form games to the Cournot oligopoly market and the voluntary provision of public goods. These two applications are very famous in economic theory. Second, to examine the relationship between group rationality and individual rationality, we study the concept of Pareto optimality and apply it to the above two games. Third, we will learn sequential games and their applications. Students will learn the formulation of extensive-form games. Finally, students will learn about repeated games by applying the basic knowledge that they have acquired so far.

Continuing from Microeconomics A, the objective of this course is to understand the game theory, which analyzes interdependent relationships among various economic agents in the modern economy.

Students are required to prepare for this class and review the content of this class for at least four hours per week. Students have to solve problem sets before and after the lecture to check their understanding.

Evaluation will be based on classroom examinations (100%).
Details will be announced in the lecture and Hoppii.
