Outline (in English)

Course outline:
At present, Japanese government needs to cope with the several issues of a huge government debt, increases in the social security costs coming from the aging and low birth rate, and the economic policy against the low growth. In this course, students understand these issues which the current Japanese government is facing and learn how to consider them from the standpoint of economics.

Learning objective:
The goals of this course are to understand the roles of the central government in the national economy. Students should be able to consider these roles and Japanese government finance logically and normatively.

Leaning activities outside of classroom:
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand course contents and basic concepts of economics.

Grading criteria/policies:
Final grade will be calculated by every-week homework: 100%.
