The aim of this course is to help the students to improve their listening, speaking and critical thinking skills. Students will read for details, discuss and respond to content of a lecture or listening passage orally and in writing. In addition, students will practice presentation using various topics. This activity will enhance the ability of students to explain different things and interact with English speakers.

The goal is to have the students succeed in improving their English communication skills in order to be confident to talk about various topics connected with social issues.

Practice in the speaking tasks will include the use of techniques in delivering a speech, implementation of conversation management strategies and the use of active listening techniques. Listening practice focuses on developing aural comprehension strategies with primary emphasis on building vocabulary as well as learning to predict the topic, recognize word/phrase patterns, and listen for the general meaning of conversations and classroom lectures. The class will introduce topics and vocabulary to be studied. Students will receive feedback in a variety of ways during typical face-to-face classes:
• Announcements at the beginning of class
• Written feedback on assignments
• In-class / One-on-One (Question and Answer )
• Staying after class to ask a question
• Use the rubric to help make your comments actionable for the student
