Outline (in English)
This class aims at developing students’ basic knowledge of accurately constructing English sentences leading to writing paragraphs and essays in which students develop the foundations of academic writing. Attention will be paid to not merely translating to English, but to developing the awareness and skill of writing in a more English-like way, finding and researching good topics, and content-based writing. Classes are leveled and enrollment held to approximately 20 students in order to maximize teaching effectiveness.

・予備知識を提示するための聴解、問題意識を共有させるための議論、より深い内容理解のための推論を促す教師発問、内容理解の整理・進化のための英文要約をする。
・英文を英語で理解できるようにする。
・論理的構造のパラグラフを書く力をつける。
・CALL教室教材で、TOEIC650点取れる力を養う。
到達目標Goal
・英語の論説文や説明文などのパラグラフ展開に習熟し、概要をまとめられるようになる。
・読み取った内容に関して自分の意見を「説得力」を持って英語で表現できるようになる。
・様々なジャンルの英文を正確に読解し、論理的構造のパラグラフを書く力をつける。
・TOEIC650点を目指す。

今年度はカレンダー通りに始まり、原則としてキャンパスで行います。Call教室のTOEIC教材をやってから、テキストに進む。各ユニットを2-3週間で終え、パラグラフを書き、提出し、プレゼンテーションをすすみます。テキストは手本となるリーディングを基に文章校正や表限方法を学び、最後にパラグラフライティングをします。提出した課題は添削し、返却し、翌週、プレゼンテーションをします。前回の授業で提出されたリアクションペーパーからいくつか取り上げ、全体に対してフィードバックを行い、リアクションペーパー等における良いコメントは授業内で紹介し、さらなる議論に活かします。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
課題の提出 30%、平常点 30%、レポート課題10%、授業内学期末テスト30%。
欠席回数が4回となった時点で単位取得の資格を失う。欠席は減点とする。
30分以内の遅刻・早退は3回で欠席1回と見なす。
30分以上の遅刻・早退は欠席として取り扱う。
教科書を所持していない場合は欠席扱いとなることがある。

ディスカッションの機会を多くする。
その他の重要事項Others
・欠席厳禁。4回欠席すると単位取得は不可能である。遅刻3回で欠席1回と見なす。また授業内で細かく学習データを集めて評価するので、欠席が多くなると比例してデータ量も減る。
・授業ではCALL(LL)教室にてコンピュータを利用するので、自らのID/Passwordを紛失・忘却せず授業に臨んで下さい。
