Outline and objectives

The course will focus on building confidence and improving students’ Listening and Presentation skills through communicative activities involving pair, small group and whole class work.

Goal

Throughout the course students will:
-Develop confidence in speaking in front of people.
-Learn how to express their opinions, ideas and experiences.
-Listen to and reflect on others’ presentations.
-Practice and improve researching, discussing/debating, planning and writing skills.
-Improve English language skills.
-Learn how to communicate more deeply and effectively.

1. An up-to-date presentations course book geared towards Japanese learners will be followed.
2. Students will watch and critically analyse videos of presentations.
3. Students will engage in activities to improve their presentation skills such as voice exercises, facial and hand gestures, posture and body language and use of visual aids.
4. Using relevant topics students will research, discuss, plan and deliver individual, pair and small group presentations.
5. Feedback will be given through the Learning Management System or in person through classroom discussion.
