Outline and objectives

春学期で習得した内容を基礎とし、更に飛躍することが秋学期の目的です。特に英語のセンテンスパターンをさらに多く暗記・収得するだけでなく、言葉の言い換えなども含めできるようにしましょう。また秋学期はグループ分けをし、プレゼンを行います。

Goal

The class will help students improve at oral skills and also at presentation skills. Students will be graded on their content, delivery and visual aids.

Students will work in pairs and groups. They will give feedback in order to help other students, and to understand mistakes they made. Lectures will be at a minimum. Group and pair practice will be the focus for learning. Feedback can be given in class. The teacher will give it orally and students can give feedback too. Students can give feedback in oral and written comments in groups, about the weekly speeches.

第1回[対面/face to face]:Orientation - Self-introductions. Pronunciation practice with close listening practice.

Course overview, and we will start the first unit, Students will introduce themselves.

第2回[対面/face to face]:Unit 1 - We will finish unit one and students will practice making introductions.

Self-introduction - Students will introduce themselves, practice pronunciation and do the practice in pairs.

第3回[対面/face to face]:Unit 2 - Students will give speeches about an important person.

An important person or thing - Students will practice facial and hand gestures.

第4回[対面/face to face]:Unit 3 - Students will give speeches about a place they know or want to visit.

Talking about interesting places - Students will learn more hand gestures and learn about slides and graphics.

第5回[対面/face to face]:Unit 4 - Students will give speeches about an opinion they have.

Sharing opinions - Students will learn gestures for emphasis and learn about sentence stress.

Students will prepare for speeches and review. Students will write, make visual aids and will practice their speeches.

第7回[対面/face to face]:First speech for a grade - Students will prepare and give their speeches

Students will listen and will give their speeches. Each student must evaluate another student.

Talking about people - Students will learn more about hand gestures and appropriate gestures.

第9回[対面/face to face]:Unit 6 - Students will tell a story in their speeches

Talking about past experiences - Students will learn more about gestures, as well as emphasis in speeches.

Expressing opinions about various issues Students will learn about tables, graphs and chunking.

Opinions and the future
Students will practice chunking and gestures.

Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)

Students should review the text after each class. Students must prepare for the graded speeches outside of class. Students should write a bit of their speeches outside of class as class time is limited. 本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。
