Outline (in English)

【Course outline)】
The purpose of this course is to understand the industry’s history as the stage of business activities. In this course, while focusing on representative industries in Asian countries including Europe, the Unites States and Japan by era, I will examine the foundations (market, systems, etc.) that made up the industry and growth factors (technology, policies, management, labor policies etc.), shedding light on the changes in the state of industry. I will pay attention to how an industry forms, grows, and sometimes declines in a specific country and incorporates three dimensions in the underlying economic development, competitive conditions, and dynamic changes due to corporate activities.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do following:
To explain what industry is.
To explain how an industry develops and conditions and foundations for the growth dividing the time periods based on the example of that industry.
To explain the formation, growth, and maturity of a specific industry in relation to corporate activities, considering the conditions of the external environment.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to spend one or two hours to read the material provided by me. Students are expected to submit assignments when I give them in class.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Final grade will be calculated according to final examination (100 %). Please note that students should submit assignments for taking examination that I will explain in the first week class.
