Outline (in English)

【Course outline and learning objectives】
This course offers two keywords to be studied: "creativity" and "concepts". Creativity is one of the most important factors for the growth and survival of an organization because it is the source of innovation. In the spring semester, I ask the following questions; what does a highly creative output look like? What does a highly creative person look like? How can creativity be measured? What are the factors that influence creativity? To answer these questions, this class will provide the latest knowledge of psychology, economics, and sociology related to creativity. In the fall semester, students will learn about “concepts”. Concepts play the biggest role in human perception of the external world and internal states. Handling concepts allows us to change the management of an organization dramatically. We will study what concepts are, what it means for them to evolve, why they evolve, and how we can create better concepts. I will give lectures using slides and conduct group work.

【Goal】
(1) To be able to explain basic theories and frameworks related to creativity and concepts to others in one's own words.
(2) To be able to analytically examine the phenomena that one sees in web articles and that one is familiar with from a theoretical perspective.

【Learning activities outside of the classroom】
•Read the corresponding materials before class.
•Students are expected to critically examine the information they come across through the theoretical concepts they have learned.
•The estimated preparation and review time for one class is 2 hours each.

【Grading Criteria】
・Six to eight small assignments: 40 points
・Online group work: 10 points (If you are reported as a non-contributor by students in the same group, you will receive 0 points even if you participate.
・Final exam: 50 points (may be switched to a final report depending on the status of the infection)
