Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
  Introduction to informatics I and II aim to provide a fundamental understanding of document processing, e-mail and information retrieval. In addition to it, this course especially focuses on programming and statistical analysis, and aims to provide skills for composing effective and expressive documents and presentations using programming techniques.
[Learning Objectives]
  The goal is to understand programming for more expressive problem-solving from the mechanism of computers and how to use computers necessary for learning academics. In addition, we will learn some statistical analysis methods and introduce examples of problem solving necessary for practical work.
[Learning Activities outside of classroom]
  It is necessary to prepare and review so that you can understand the basic operation of computers and programming. The standard preparatory study / review time for this class is 2 hours each.
[Grading Criteria/Policy]
  A test will be given once each in the spring and fall semesters (which may be replaced by a report submission or a quiz in class), and will be evaluated in consideration of attendance and assignment submission.
