Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
In this course, we learn the basics of organisation studies, in order to understand what is called "management", and to answer the question of how to realise good management practice. Especially, our learning activities are going to analysing of human behaviours in organisations, and of mechanism of managing organisations, by using the conceptual tools of human resource and organisational management, which have been developed in the field of Management Studies. Through those learning activities, we try to deepen our understanding of the core perspectives of Management Studies, as well as to sharpen our insights into business corporations and individual work-styles in the post-Covid 19 world.
   
[Learning Objectives]
The objectives of this course are :
(1) to deepen the understanding of various activities and phenomena relevant to business and management, from the perspectives of organisation studies,
(2) to sharpen the vision for further learning, especially in relation to the field of human resource and organisational management, and
(3) to unlearn a passive attitude of just acquiring knowledge from text books, and to develop an active attitude toward learning.
     
[Learning Activities outside of Classroom]
Before/after each class meeting, the learners are expected to spend 2 hours to understand the course content, by reading the texts and references, and writing reflection papers about the guest lectures and the video materials.
   
[Grading Criteria/Policies]
Grading is decided based on the term-end academic essay (40%), the mid term academic essay (20%), and 4 reflection papers about the guest lectures and video learning materials (40%).
