Outline (in English)

Mathematical sociology is a type of theoretical sociology characterized by its formality and its use of mathematical model. It tries to explain social process as simply as possible. Finding a simple mechanism explaining one "why?" should give us a theoretical tool to explaining various social phenomena (many "why?"). This course provides students an opportunity to learn models for the maintenance of social institutions and its products.
The goal for you is to learn the basics of approaching broad range of social phenomena by seeking a common form or common mechanism among them. To accomplish this goal, you are expected to study class materials and finish required assignments. Expected study time for each class is about four hours.
The overall grade will be decided based on the performance on the assignments (100%).
